International Award in Food Safety Management Level 3

Introduction

This qualification is prepare learners for employment in foods safety role, or to support a role in the workplace. Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.

  • After successful completion of course, each participant should be able to:
  • Safe food safety procedure, safe food handling and avoiding un safe behavior
  • Report food safety hazards, infestations and food spoilage
  • Importance of safe waste disposal
  • Importance of pest control
  • Identify safe food handling and temperature control practices for delivery, storage, date, marking and stock rotation
  • Identify effective personal hygiene practices relating to protective clothing, hand washing personal lines, cuts, wounds, food handling practices.

Course Content

  • Ensuring compliance with food safety legislation,
  • The application and monitoring of good hygiene practice,
  • How to implement food safety management procedures and the application and monitoring of good practice regarding contamination,
  • Microbiology and temperature control
  • Food hygiene at a suitable depth
  • Knowledge of hazards and controls; its focus is on the importance of developing, implementing and monitoring food safety procedures

Intended Audience

This qualification is designed for caterers and other food handlers. The qualification is intended for candidates already working in catering who would benefit from refresher training. This qualification reinforces the responsibilities of the food handler regarding food safety and will ensure their knowledge is up to date.

Module Quiz

Each course is organized into modules. At the end of each module is a quiz designed to help the student self-assess their understanding of the course content. After submitting their quiz answers, the student is presented with the correct quiz answers. Quiz results are not recorded and can be taken multiple times.

Course Exam

After studying the course material and taking the module quizzes, students can take the course exam. The course exam is designed to test the students understanding of the course material. Course exams are composed of multiple choice questions selected from our extensive question bank.

Exam Characteristics

  • Students have two hours to complete the course exam.
  • You must achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass the exam.
  • If you do not pass the exam, you may retake the exam.
    • Students are only allowed to take an exam three (3) times within a 48-hour period.
    • After the third attempt, students must wait 48 hours before attempting the exam again. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
  • After each exam, students will receive an email with references (module and tab) to content associated with missed questions. Students are encouraged to review the course material to improve their understanding.
  • If you pass the exam, you may not retake the exam to raise your score
